India will become an AI superpower! Major companies from around the world announced investments upon meeting PM Modi
India's digital future has received a major boost. Following their meetings with PM Modi, major companies like Microsoft, Intel, and Cognizant have announced billions of dollars in investments in India. While Microsoft will open its coffers to AI, Intel, along with Tata, will accelerate "Make in India."
Tuesday marked a milestone for India's tech future. CEOs from the world's leading tech companies met Prime Minister Narendra Modi one after another.
This wasn't just a courtesy call, but a major leap toward making India a global leader in artificial intelligence (AI) and semiconductors.
In separate meetings with PM Modi, the heads of Microsoft, Intel, and Cognizant outlined billions of dollars in investments and new partnerships to strengthen India's digital infrastructure.
Microsoft opens its coffers
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced that his company is investing US$17.5 billion in India. Nadella described this as the company's "largest investment" in Asia to date.
This money will be used to build India's "AI-first future." This means that in the future, India's AI infrastructure will be strengthened, new skilling opportunities will be created for youth, and the country will be able to develop its own capabilities.

World-class chips to be made in India
Not just software, there's also significant news on the hardware front. Following his meeting with PM Modi, Intel Corporation CEO Lip-Boo Tan praised India's semiconductor mission. He commended PM Modi's policies and stated that Intel is fully committed to deepening India's semiconductor ecosystem.
Additionally, Intel has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tata Group. Under this partnership, Intel-designed products will be manufactured and packaged at Tata Electronics' upcoming facilities.
This means that critical chips and parts for computers and gadgets will now be manufactured in India. This move will significantly help India become a global semiconductor hub and realize PM Modi's vision of "Make in India for the World."
Cognizant's big plan
Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar and CMD S. Rajesh Varrier met with PM Modi to discuss education and skills development. The company clarified that it will expand into India's emerging cities (Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities).
This will directly benefit young people living in smaller towns, as they will no longer have to travel to larger cities for jobs and training. Cognizant aims to promote equitable development and enhance AI capabilities.
