Parliament Winter Session: Preparations for the Winter Session of Parliament have begun. Meanwhile, three important news items related to education are emerging in the country. 

According to this information, coming before the start of the Winter Session, a parliamentary panel will review PM Shri Schools, coaching centers, and the proposed Higher Education Council of India (HECI). 

Information regarding this was released in the Lok Sabha Bulletin. It is believed that this could pave the way for the establishment of HECI.

The standing committee will review

The Standing Committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth and Sports will review PM Shri schools, coaching centers, and HECI. According to a bulletin issued by the Lok Sabha, the Standing Committee made this decision for the year 2025-26.

Concern over student suicides, coaching centres targeted!

The Standing Committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth, and Sports has decided to review coaching centers in light of the rising number of student suicides. 

The parliamentary panel has decided to review the increasing pressure of competitive exams, the rapid proliferation of coaching centers, and the resulting social problems. 

According to reports, the committee will study the impact of competitive entrance exams, their fairness, and their impact on the growth of the coaching industry.

The Ministry of Education is also keeping an eye on the coaching culture

In fact, a large number of coaching centers for JEE and NEET have opened across the country. Kota, Rajasthan, is known as the coaching capital, where a large number of student suicides have been reported. 

This is seen as a result of academic pressure on students. In this regard, the Union Ministry of Education has formed a committee to reduce the coaching culture, while the CBSE has taken effective steps to curb dummy schools.

PM Shri also reviewed the impact of schools and AI

Additionally, the Standing Committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth and Sports will also examine the impact of PM Shri School, AI and the benefits of new technology on education and students.

The path to becoming HECI may be clear

The UGC will also review the Ministry of Education's efforts to establish the Higher Education Council of India (HECI), a replacement for the AICTE and NCTE. 

This HECI is envisioned in the New Education Policy 2020. The HECI bill is proposed to be introduced in the parliamentary session beginning December 1.
