The US President has taken significant action to prevent Russian crude oil from entering the market, but he appears to be failing on this front.
A report from the Helsinki-based Center for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA) tells a similar story. According to CREA, India was the second-largest importer of Russian crude oil after China in October, purchasing $2.5 billion worth of oil, while Beijing imported $3.7 billion worth. Meanwhile, the US is currently negotiating trade deals with both countries. Major announcements are expected in the next few days or weeks.

Turkey bought coal
China remained the largest buyer of Russian coal, ahead of India and Turkey. India imported $351 million worth of Russian coal and $222 million worth of oil products in October.
Turkey was the largest buyer of Russian oil products last month, importing $957 million, nearly half of which was diesel. It also purchased $929 million worth of Russian pipeline gas and $572 million worth of crude oil.
How much Russian gas did the European Union buy?
The European Union imported $824 million worth of Russian LNG and pipeline gas and purchased $311 million worth of Russian crude oil in October.
South Korea remained the fifth-largest importer of Russian fossil fuels. More than half (53%) of its imports – worth $215 million – were coal, followed by LNG ($107 million) and oil products ($80 million).
