The Indian electric vehicle sector has grown exponentially over the past few years, with both domestic and international automakers entering the sector with strong offerings in both budget-friendly and premium segments.

From micro-electric cars to feature-loaded electric MPVs and high-end luxury electric vehicles, India will have a significant number of electric vehicles on sale by 2025. However, the country's largest carmaker hasn't been active in this sector so far, but not for long.

Will be launched on December 2, 2025

After much anticipation, the Maruti Suzuki Evitara is now set to launch in India on December 2, 2025. Maruti Suzuki already offers several car models in petrol, CNG, and strong hybrid drivetrains, and the Evitara is expected to attract EV buyers as well.

The electric SUV is also part of Maruti Suzuki's strategy to achieve 50 percent passenger vehicle market share by 2030. The automaker plans to launch eight new cars and invest ₹70,000 crore as part of its new strategy.

Maruti Suzuki Evitara Design Highlights

The upcoming Evitara is a ground-up battery electric vehicle (BEV) shaped like a mid-size SUV and aimed at the mass EV market. The front features a pair of attractive-looking LED headlamps with 3-point matrix LED DRLs.

The side profile is further enhanced by 18-inch alloy wheels that are aerodynamically efficient. The rear also features LED tail lamps, and the overall exterior design looks natural and sleek.

New Evitara cabin design and features

The cabin of Maruti Suzuki's first electric car is also designed to set a new standard in the portfolio. It features a spacious design, a dual-tone theme, and a twin-deck floating center console. Cabin features include a dual-screen digital cockpit, a fixed glass sunroof, and multi-color ambient lighting.

The eVitara is based on the automaker's HEARTECT-e platform. Upon launch in India, the eVitara will be available in a 61 kWh battery pack option.

The larger battery variant has an estimated range of 500 km on a full charge. However, the India-spec variant will not feature the AWD dual-motor version and will instead feature a single eAXLE front-wheel-drive setup.

Maruti Suzuki Evitara Safety Features

The all-new Maruti Suzuki EV will also score high in safety, featuring a Level 2 ADAS safety suite and a host of safety features, including ABS, EBD, ESC, and more.

Another highlight of the eVitara will be seven airbags for passenger safety, including a driver knee airbag. This will be a first for the brand.

Maruti Suzuki Evitara Colour Options

The new Evitara EV will be available in 10 different colors, including four dual-tone options. These will include shades like Nexa Blue, Splendid Silver, Arctic White, Grandeur Gray, Bluish Black, Opulent Red, and Land Breeze Green. These dual-tone options will provide additional contrast with the bluish black roof.
