After crackdown on fake IDs, Railways issues major update on new IRCTC users

Indian Railways has successfully reduced the number of new user IDs on the IRCTC website. A new system for verifying user identities has reduced the number of new IDs created daily from approximately 100,000 to approximately 5,000. This action has resulted in the removal of more than 30 million fake accounts. Another 27 million accounts have been suspended or flagged for suspicious activity.

Ever since the government took action against fake IDs, there has been a significant decline in the number of new users added to IRCTC daily. 

According to reports, the number of new users on IRCTC, which used to increase by 100,000 daily, has dropped to 5,000, a significant decline. 

This indicates that before the crackdown, how many users were accessing IRCTC through fake IDs, which were being used to book tickets, and those in need were unable to get them. Let us also tell you what kind of information has been provided by railway officials.

Positive results after action

According to officials, after the implementation of a new, stricter system for establishing user identities, the number of new user IDs added daily on the IRCTC website has dropped from around 100,000 to around 5,000. 

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said in a press release that Indian Railways' crackdown on train ticket bookings using fake identities is yielding positive results. The press release said that before the latest reforms, the number had reached around 100,000 new user IDs daily.

3 crore fake accounts

According to government information, after implementing strict user identification and fake ID detection systems, approximately 5,000 new user IDs are now being added to the IRCTC website every day. Officials stated that these measures have helped Indian Railways deactivate 30.3 million fake accounts. 

The minister added that another 2.7 million user IDs have either been temporarily suspended or marked for suspension due to suspicious activities.

Instructions to provide local food

The press note further stated that the Union Minister directed officials to ensure that the ticketing system is improved to such an extent that all passengers can easily book tickets using genuine and valid user IDs. 

Additionally, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav directed officials to provide local cuisine from the respective regions on board Vande Bharat trains. 

Officials stated that including local cuisine from the regions whose culture and flavors are reflected during the journey will significantly enhance the passenger experience. They further stated that this feature will be gradually expanded to all trains in the future.
