HIV Health news

Recently, Sitamarhi district in Bihar has reported record HIV cases. More than 7,000 patients have been found with the virus in this district. Around 60 new cases are being reported every month.

The district's ART center is providing medication to 5,000 patients every month. However, it was later discovered that these figures reflect data from several years.

A major question on the minds of HIV patients is whether they can marry someone who is HIV-negative. Let's learn more from experts.

Dr. Chanchal Sharma, a gynecologist in Delhi, explains that modern science confirms that an HIV-positive person can marry an HIV-negative person, but this requires that the HIV- positive person be using Antiretroviral Therapy (ART).

It's also important that the viral load in their body is undetectable. This is the only condition where HIV transmission is not a risk. This allows for sexual intercourse with their partner.

What to keep in mind before marriage

Dr. Chanchal says that trust is crucial in marriage. Therefore, if either the man or woman is HIV positive, share the truth with your partner and seek their opinion. If both are ready for marriage, consult a doctor. He or she will explain in detail how to have a safe relationship for both of you.

It is necessary to get a checkup every month

After contracting HIV, try to get your viral load checked every month. If there are any problems with the results, consult a doctor. Also, keep in mind that proper counseling and HRT can be very beneficial.

If you think that marrying an HIV-positive person will result in a HIV-positive child, this is not true. You can have a normal child through IVF.
