Following his landslide victory in the Bihar elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to give millions of farmers a gift. On November 19th, he will release the 21st installment of the PM-KISAN scheme.

Under PM-KISAN, eligible farmers are given ₹6,000 annually. This money is disbursed in three installments annually. The PM Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, launched on February 24, 2019, is a central sector scheme that provides annual financial assistance of ₹6,000 to each eligible farmer family. Let us also share the latest updates regarding the PM-KISAN scheme.

How much money has been given to the farmers

The Agriculture Minister said in a statement on Friday that the Prime Minister will release the 21st installment of PM-KISAN on November 19, 2025. To date, more than ₹3.70 lakh crore has been distributed to over 110 million farmer families across the country through 20 installments.

This funding has helped farmers purchase essential agricultural inputs, as well as meet other expenses such as education, medical care, and marriage.

The benefits of this scheme are being extended to farmers whose land details are registered on the PM-KISAN portal and whose bank accounts are linked to Aadhaar.

The Centre has also periodically conducted various village-level special saturation drives to identify, verify, and enroll all cultivable landholding farmers under the PM-KISAN scheme.

A 2019 study by the International Food and Policy Research Institute examined the impact of the PM-KISAN scheme on farmers' lives.

The statement said the study clearly shows that the funds disbursed under the PM-KISAN scheme have catalyzed rural economic development, helped reduce credit constraints for farmers, and increased investment in agricultural inputs.

New initiative has been launched

Under the PM-KISAN scheme, ensuring last-mile access for farmers is paramount. In line with this, the Ministry of Agriculture has launched a new initiative to create a farmer registry, the statement said.

This streamlined and carefully vetted database will eliminate the need for farmers to go through complex processes to access social welfare benefits.
